Sorry, I incorrectly said magnesium in my first post. I meant that the black material looked like manganese. I think you're right about the softener being a help, also the filter. I'm looking into the gpm question. I think the pump may be too large and that is another part of the problem. Thanks, really appreciate the reply
I wouldn't think the pump to be too large...
it's the GPM rate..
