I dismantled my 1887’s barn last summer and have a pile of beams, Dutch lap siding, tin and O&E. Anyone know how to sell this stuff?

a classified add in the local newspapers is a cheap and easy way to start the process -
where are you located?
I sold my logs @ $200 each to a mason who used some for interior headers and resold the rest.
Your market is the top-high-end builders, designers, floor mills want 'em too. ....You'll have to hit the phone and you might have to sit on 'em (covered and stickered of course!)
Don't give 'em away
Thanks for the tip. I've got 'em covered or under roof. Do you know a source for those kind of builders? Appreciate your input.
Keith
Where are you located? This can make a big difference in how you go about getting rid of them, and who might be interested... If you fill in your profile with your location, it will help us help you.
I'm located in Minneapolis,MN
How much of the siding do you have? Lengths, widths, painted etc. I would be interested in some more details. Need some for ffinishing off a basement. I am located about 50 miles se on mpls.
I've got about 7,000 lin. ft. of the siding. It's 1x6 T&G in all lengths mostly 16'. It's all painted red, the original, but was covered with tin in the early '30s so is in very good shape. I've got some digital pics on a CD-R if you'd like me to mail them or even email some select ones or ck out http://www.craigslist.org in the Mpls area #268015793. My cell # 952-250-0334.

you can sell it on Ebay. Just be sure in the heading to say where youre located.
I see lumber for sale all the time there. Actually I had some for sale there as well...just wrong time of year. Trying to sell cedar fence pickets in the winter wasn't the best idea in NY...lol

Here's a site you can list it.

Craig's List (http://www.craigslist.org) would be a good start.
I'm thinking of taking a barn down, sent away for a book on how to go about doing this. Any comments on your experience would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin
Kevin,
Have fun...it's a huge amount of work. We dismantled mine in the reverse of how it was built. Siding (we sawed the nails off between the back side of the siding & studs to preserve the wood from pulling the nails through), doors & windows, then hay loft flooring, next shingles, rafters, floor joist, then side-walls and last the main 8x8 up-rights and the "bones of the main structure". We tried to drop all the waste wood to the ground and then burned it in place....hope that helps.

Hey, you got back to me. Saw from your profile this is your 4th or 5th post. Let me warn you, this place is addictive. I decided to pass on the barn, too many other projects going on at the moment. Fill out your profile, it will help others help you.Best of luck!
KevinPS did you check out the link I posted, a place to sell your beams, etc.?
