Recommendations on Window Tint
We will soon install window tint on 28 double hung windows on our house we are reatoring. Does anyone have a suggestion/recommendation on the best brand of film to get? How does Concord stack up against Gila? 3M seems good but apparently it can not get purchased directly (we will be doing the installation ourselves.) Any recommendations/suggestions regarding installation? Thanks, Harold Blair

How old are the windows you are tinting?
Are they insulated glass?
Most window manufacturers void the warrenty once tinted for good reason.
Sledgehammer: These are old windows (the house is almost 80 years old) with old glass. They are not insulated. These are the original windows (although I have completely restored them.) They are double hung single paned (no mullins) about 28"x30".
I used the SolarTint (you can get it at HD) and it went on pretty easy and good.
I believe the reason I did not go with Gila is that it wasn't as easily removed as the SolarTint.
I put them on my anderseon windows (they don't have low e glass) so I had to put them on the outside, but what a difference it's made.
next time I get new windows, I'll get the low E.
I alway use solar screen. Its a outside screen that blocks alot of glare. easyier than the tint itself.
I was doing some googling to find out more about the SolarTint and one of the ads on the side said that they sold 3M film for DIY.

However, the website does not mention 3M.
