I looking for a Fien Turbo 2 vacuum. any Idea were I can get a reconditioned one? I can find reconditioned tools from most brands, but Fein doesent seem to have any. Or do they resell them as new?
thanks

I'd be interested too if you find one. Absent that, McFeely's was having a sale recently. Not a big sale, but about $50 off as I recall.
I see Fein has new models of the Turbo vacuum. Im not sure if any real difference other than the price. they are even more expensive
If I were a manufacturer, I'm not sure I'd recondition vacuums that were used for remodeling:
I'd have to assume that every vac was contaminated with lead or other HAZMATs. My workers would be at risk, and since it's impossible to clean a motor 100%, I'd be selling contaminated units.
Unh-unh.

I think many reconditioned tools that are resold are just "weekend rentals" that people use for one job then return it. Almost all tool brands sell reconditioned tools, many through CPO, but there is nothing for Fein Vacuums. it make me wonder if they just clean them up and sell them as new.
But the "weekend rentals" are mostly sold through the BBs, and I don't think Fein sells through BBs, do they?

No but they do sell through Amazon and other tool stores. There are plenty of tools that are high end that have reconditioned ones for sale.
I could maybe see some other company doing that, though it's highly unlikely, but I'd not think Fein would do such a thing.Aside from their high Multimaster blade prices - I think very highly of them as a corporation.JT
That's not what a reconditioned tool is at all. They are customer returns that aren't sold at retail. Many stores don't put customer returns back on the shelves but sell them to specialty retailers who test them, repackage and sell as reconditioned. Th e stuff that's obviously been used is sold as used.
When my Fein died they wanted about $20 less than the cost of a new one to rebuild it.
I thought reconditioned were tools that were retured do to some defect. The defect was then repaired, and now its being repaired. Now many of them dont have a defect but were just "weekend rentals".
So what happens to Fein vacuums that are returned because of a problem?
I would have to disagree with your comment. While it is true sometimes you paint with too broad a brush. I have two Hitachi guns that came in Hitachi boxes and either were actually new or had been "factory certified/reconditioned".
They are supposed to open a recondition operation like you describe in an old plant in my town. I kind of doubt Bosch would do the process you describe (although I can see them contracting with someone).
My Hitachi stapler was from Amazon and it was absolutely new, either an overstock or model change I believe.

I bought my fein vac years ago, and recall at that time they didn't sell reconditioned. I look to buy my most expensive tools reconditioned first, so if they did that is the route I would have taken. Vic
