I plan to drop 12 to 18 very good sized red oaks ranging from 18 in. diameter to 36 in. Trunks are nice: straight and long. Hate to see it become just firewood. They’re free to anyone who can put them to good use. I’m in RI.

Post your message at the Foresty Forum. You'll probably get knocked over with offers.
Thanks!
Where in RI are you?
I have an interest and I'm sure I know a few that would also be interested.
Edit... I didn't think of checking your profile. I'm about 1/2 hr from W Warwick.

MIKE,
Have you called a sawmill? Sometimes they will pay you big bucks for the logs. They may cut, remove and clean up and then send you a check. I know people who have paid for 40 to 50 acres of land by selling "Selected" trees off the property.
I haven't called local mills. In the past when I have they didn't seem very interested. I may try though now that you mention it.Thanks
I could check prices, but around here ready to load that could easily be as much as $3000 worth of wood, not to mention the firewood from the tops.
As Andy C would say... "be a logger"
Before you chop em find out what the mill wants. Some could go for veneer and bring huge money, then you cut around defects.
You probably have a thousand just in firewood.
You said you were cutting them up anyhow, right? You could cut those trees with a handsaw and make good money.
Don't cut the trees by your self. Get a logger. You can damage the tree very EZ.
And they may become unwanted by the sawmill. It looks to me that you have veneer logs. You may want to call and consult with a logger/saw mill.
