Have a house with a brick chimney that has the faces of the brick flaking off on the exterior. Was wondering about the easiest/cheapest way to “fix” the look of the thing. Thought about trying to stucco over whole mess. Any suggestions or tips.

Stucco would work well. I'm no expert but I think you have to apply expanded metal lath first to bond the stucco togeather or it'll crack.
*shoeman, why don't you check out the many selections of synthetic stone on the market? these products bond well to any masonry substrate. try looking for information about culturedstone, eldorado, or coronado products
