I am hoping someone can tell me what has caused this wavy look after my solid oak engineered floor was refinished. I am not satisfied with the look and the contractor is saying it is because I have alot of graining in my floor. I have asked a couple of other contractors they are saying it is because they used a drum sander instead of a belt sander. Would like some input.
The other problem I am having is that the floor is very easily scratched. But the scratches are not just varnish they are embedded into the wood. I question why this was happening. They said it was because of our dog. I had a dog for many years and I never had markings like this on the floor from her claws. My floors were 16 years old before I had them refinished and I had no denting like this on my floor before from the dog. Is it because they sanded to much?

Most of what I see is grain reveal due to sanding with a soft medium that deformed to dig out the softer wood.
The dog scratches are probably because the new finish is nowhere near as hard as the original factory finish.
and the high gloss finish makes everything look worse. The best looking cars gloss black but they are also the cars that show every imperfection.
