Refinishing a bathtub is usually not very successful. The "finish" that is used is generally some sort of epoxy based paint-on material. Keep in mind that the fired-on cast iron enamel finish that was on your tub originally was applied in a giant kiln at a foundry somewhere so achieving as durable a finish a second time is almost impossible.
If you really want to refinish a tub make sure that the surface is etched very well and that particular attention is paid to the areas around the drain and the overflow! Also go for the longest guarantee that you can find in your area, generally in the Seattle area that is 5-10 years. When the finish fails call immediatly and insist on a redo! Also watch out for the slick nature of the resurfacing there is no non-skid refinish that I am aware of.
