My house is about one hundred years old and has a stone foundation, which does not seem to leak. The basement is used as living space with about sixty percent of the wall space being uncovered stone . The grouting in many areas needs to be repaired. I am planning to wire brush all the joints, but don’t know what is best for regrouting them. I am pretty sure I don’t want to use premix brick mortar (to hard?). Whatever I use, I hope to use it in a grout bag for ease of application. I also need to know what to seal the walls with after the repairs have been made. I saw on a home repair show where they sealed the stone and joints similar to mine, but I don’t know what product they used. I would like not to have to constantly vacuum the floors next to the walls due to crumbling grouting. Thanks for any help you can give me.
