Has anyone got any information or feedback on the www.reliableremodeler.com web site and service? They want $75 – $100 for contact information of prospects looking for remodelers. This could be an okay marketing tool, but wondering if anyone has used this service, and if so, how “reliable” are the referrals?

if you need someone, these forums are probably more reliable.

Okay, guys... I have a healthy skepticism too
What I am looking for is anyone who has any ACTUAL experience with this ACTUAL site... :-)
Angela, what type of business are you doing?'

We are a design/build, doing mainly residential remodeling, and trying to grow enough to get to the next level and run another crew. Right now we have one crew of our own, and often have 2-3 jobs going at once, with subs and our crew.
We are in San Francisco.
As a Home Owner when I look at sites like that I wonder what kind of prequalifying that they do on the contractors.
From a quick glance it appears that you just send in some "documents" and until a client complains then you are "qualified".
Does not give me a warm feeling about a contractor that I would find through such a site.
But then again I am probably not the typical type of person that would use such a site.
I don't know anything about that site, but I lived in the East Bay for 16 years and recommend you get involved in the Splinter Group, a contractors group that has members from around the area. If you put some effort into it you will be able to get tons of good marketing info for the area through that group, and find out who the consultants and coaches are, etc. I don't know who's responsible for the membership list these days, but get ahold of Canyon Construction in Moraga, Winans Construction in Oakland, or McCutcheon Construction in Berkeley... someone at one of those companies can tell you how to get info on the meetings and membership.
I'll take your money and do nothing for you for less than that, say $50 bucks. And if you want give me your credit card # and I'll hit you for the 50 automatically every year.
Angela, I've never used leads like that. I doubt that I would. I might consider it if I had a money back guarantee.

Angela, I'm not a contractor but I work for a large organization that does some work that competes with smaller remodelers. One fairly popular site is http://www.servicemagic.com. To my knowledge they are the largest such referral site in the U.S. I know small businesses that have used them with mixed success.
