I think I am going to have to remove vinyl siding from the side of a new home to install windows.
I am installing new windows into the wall (quarter round). I have installed it before but never had to take down and reinstall. The windows are going to be installed about 7′-0″ up from f.f. on a 2 storey home. Do I have to remove all the siding or can I just remove the affected area?
If I just remove that area , how do I reattach it since it starts at bottom and goes up? i.e locking in the last piece to the one that remained?
Any help would get you a 12 pack of your choice.(only if it works).
Thanks cc

Go to your local supplier of siding and ask for a siding zipper. If they don't have them they will surely know where to find you one. They cost 4$ or so and you will be able to start at the bottom of the window and finish at the top no extra siding will have to be removed.

Thanks Blacky , but how do you nail the last piece in when you lock it into the one above it?
*
ya hold the above piece of siding up nail the lower one then zip it in.:)
*I have used one of these tools that Blacky describes and they work well.
*A piece of 14 gauge wire (one strand) bent in a tight hook on one end will work well in a pinch. Ya do just what Blacky said, then hook the wire over the lower edge of the top piece of siding, and zip it over the locking channel.

Thank you Matt, the information will help very much
