Removing Baseboard Installed On Subfloor
I need to do some renovations on an exterior wall in a 1950s cape. The original baseboard was installed before the flooring. In other words, the baseboard was put in then the flooring was butted up to it. Furthermore it was installed with 3″ nails. The baseboard is simple square edge profile Douglas fir, and is worth keeping if I can get it out without destroying it.
Therein lies my question, is there a technique to remove an installation like this? I think I could maybe slip a sawzall or oscillating tool behind the board and cut the nails, and try to lever the boards out.

Oscillating tool with a carbide blade would be where I would start.
That is, unless you plan to renovate down to the subfloor.
and if labor cost is a consideration, I would just get the prybar and forget about reuse.
Thanks! I am doing it myself. I'll put in some earplugs and see how it goes.
Don a quick search for "jamb saw". You may be able to rent one locally or buy a cheaper one since its not going to be used regularly.
Thanks! There's a tool I never knew existed.
If oscillating multitool blade won't reach the lower nails then maybe use a nail set and drive the nails through the baseboard.
