Heat gun or propane torch for the brick.
Aluminum? Replace it.

why do you recommend replacing the aluminum? am i going to scratch thru the color when removing the caulk?
Most certainly you'll scratch the color. Plan on painting afterwards.

Hot air gun (pro model, not some K-Mart toy) and whatever combo of scrapers works. A linoleum knife is often handy for digging the stuff out, but you'll need other scrapers as well. Visit the local HW and buy an assortment.
I'd suggest you not replace the clear caulk with clear, but use a good quality butyl or siliconized latex, paintable. (And then paint the caulk.)
why not clear silicone? i thought that would be best...
you should need a liscense of some sort to buy silicone, too many folks really mess up with it.Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Yep. Dynaflex 230. It's all I use...
Love it.
Oh, and on the wood surfaces that have been scraped clean (and DO scrape them CLEAN), be sure to prime before caulking. Caulk will not adhere to bare wood.
