removing caulking from acrylic bathtub

I’m cleaning a newly renovated home where the owners have removed the sliding glass doors from an acrylic tub surround. I would like to remove the caulking with something other than a flat razor. Any ideas out there?

I think that you're stuck with the flat razor -- or some other type of flat scraper.
But, to help avoid gouges, you should round-off the corners of the blade. Use a sharpening stone, or a file. Without the sharp corners, you'll be much less likely to scratch or gouge the tub.
3M sells a caulk remover that isn't perfect but seems to soften the caulk and weaken it's grip on the surface. It's worth a try.
I am only familiar with the DAP Caulk Remover, and it is designed to only work on acrylic caulks. Problem is, it cannot differentiate between an acrylic caulk and an acrylic tub. Therefore, they specifically state not to use their caulk remover on acrylic surfaces.

The 3M works best on silicone caulks. Don't recall if it said anything about acrylic tubs, though.
