My house and chimney are 107 years old. The chinmey does not have a flue liner and has never had a cap. The brick and mortar are in excellent condition except for efflorescent staining. Ive tried a solution of muratic acid and water , and have even tried pure acid with no results. I’m having a cap made to help prevent further staining. Does anyone have any suggestions about removing these stains??
