Fellow Contractors and Craftsmen,
I need a good technique for removing the old vinyl and 3/4″ particle-board underlayment from a kitchen floor without removing the base cabinets. I will be installing hardwood and need to get back down to the plywood sub-floor in order to get the new floor level with the adjoining rooms.
My greatest challenge will be how to cut along the sides of the base cabinets and especially under the toe-kick. There must be a tool or technique that will do this cleanly and efficiently, I just don’t know what it is.
Now that I have laid out the problem, forget about all the other problems you have to solve. Think about nothing else until you have an answer. Don’t let this challenge defeat you. Respond as soon as you have it. Others are working on this as you read. Don’t be second!
I will wait patiently because I know you can do it.
Thanks,
Curt

Thanks a million. This was my first experience with "Breaktime". I am stunned.

Since you're new, someone has to break this:
You now owe him $100.
He'll negotiate the terms.
And if you're only doing it once, you might want to rent. My local rental place rents toekick saws for about $25/day.
Curt,
I checked ebay, only the 555 undercut saw.
You want the 785 toe kick model. Amazon has them new for $244.00. They come up all the time on ebay...if you don't need it yesterday keep watching. This is the kind of tool that pays for itself before lunch.
