We are buying a house that has a few interesting features. For example,
it has an octagonal silo style addition. It also has old rough sawn board and baton siding that is discolored. The original owner painted the exterior with linseed oil only so the siding has molded. I though that maybe we could power wash the mold away, but I read that power washing was not a good idea. Especially with all the open joints in the silo addition. So how can we get rid of the mold before we stain the siding?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, There are probably many good cleaners out on the market for this problem. One I have used is Simple Green. I have also had good luck with a good detergent with a dose of bleach or vinegar added to the water. I took an old drywall sanding pole and attached a green scrubby to it and with some elbow grease did a pretty good job of cleaning walls. Also a brass brush may work in particularly ornery locations without too much damage. Walk good david
