Fire restoration companies charge a fortune! Crazy money. File a claim with the insurance, get the settlement, and use that money to do it yourself if you have the skills / knowledge. You will save 10's of thousands over hiring them to do the work. Just make sure you read up on what you need to do with fire restoration. If your house smells like smoke after you are done you will have to rip everything out and do it over.
My fellow landlord who has a regular crew had enough money from an insurance settlement from a "minor" fire in the front of the building to cover his costs for a complete renovation.
You'll have to do other stuff but Kilz paint will cover up a lot of the smell and damage
