Does anyone have any good tips on replacing sidwall shingles without destroying the house wrap underneath? I often replace/repair shingles around doors or windows for customers but have always been woried because in the process of removing the old (usually rotted) shingles the paper gets damaged. Which brings up another point…many of these houses have RED ROSIN paper not tar paper under the shingles. I have always felt that rosin paper does not do much anyhow so if it gets damaged…oh well. Most customers just cannot afford to re-do a whole house. Most of these homes are painted.
