Small fire on a deck of an apartment. Not a lot of damage, and nothing load-bearing.
Some framing on the outside wall is charred pretty bad (concrete wall underneath the wood framing). The really bad ones I can cut out and replace, but some only have surface charring, and some are in tough places to get out and replace.
The framing is basically for an inserted wall air conditioner, with sheathing and asphalt shingles on the exterior.
My question: I can scrape off as much charring as possible, and sister new 2x to the existing minor damaged ones. Is there some kind of treatment to put on the charring to make it more fire resistent in the future? Are there any codes that might cover this? I know I’ll have to deal with the local authorities regarding codes & permits on this. Just though I’d get a head start with you all.
Thanks in advance.

Those photos too big for me to download but the standard ios that framing that is charred more than 1/4" deep must be replaced. Less than 1/4" and you can scrape and seal with a shelac based like kilz to contain the odor.

Judging by the wire that is stapled to the door jamb then runs the length of the threshold, I hope the authorities get involved.
