Hello,
I removed the shower lining for search of a leak and found it. What I discovered is there there are gaps between drywall and the shower base . What can I put there to fill the gaps, where one gap is almost 1/2 inch wide? The gaps were causing the lining to be buoyant and as a result, the leak.
Please let me know and thanks.

Drywall is a poor material for use in a shower.
I'm not clear on what sort of system you have. is this a PVCV or rubber lining for under tile, or a finished three piece surrond, or what?
Hi there,
It is almost like an acrylic type feel or maybe it is a hard plastic, not quite sure? Yes, dry wall is the worst, atleast it should be the mold resistent type, but that is not the case here. I plan to paint the drywall with Exterior paint to protect it.
I'm trying to find the best way to fill those gaps before I put the lining back. I'm thinking of placing some extra sheet metal, nail or screw it into the studs behind the walls, then place some tiles and glue them on to it. That way there is no more gap.
I'm also planning on using PL Premium for Bath and Tub. That won't stain or cause any problems on the shower, will it?

Sorry
I am having a hard time picturing what the situation is still. Can you attacha photo of the gap and of the lining?
BTW, also only 2 of the four sides of the shower are along the walls, the other two sides have glass. The shower is in the corner of the washroom.
How thick is the plastic material covering the walls? 1/8"? 1/4"? How are the sections joined? How is the base constructed?
The cement board, or in your case drywall, should have been shimmed out enough to be able to go over the lip on the shower pan.
But since its too late for that, and I'm assuming you don't want to pull the walls down entirely, I'd use some Vycor self-adhesive flashing to bridge the gap. Lap it onto the pan, and behind the sheetrock on the walls. You may have to cut the rock and patch it.
There's a paint-on water-proofing to use under tile. I don't remember the name, but I think Home depot carries it. It would be a much better choice than paint.
Rhonda,
The product shep is talking about is called Red Guard-by Custom. Follow the label directions to a T.
I knew someone would come up with the name. Thanks.
