I just previewed a 70 year old house that I may want to buy. The front and side corner brick is broken in a ladder-like formation and is leaning outward with wider gaps at the top than at the bottom. The post supporting the porch roof at this corner is almost rotted through. The gutter downspout at this corner is missing and I observed rain water dripping and pooling there on the ground. The stone foundation appears to be settling as there is a gap between the top of the foundation and the mudsill. The basement floor in this corner is damp but not excessively wet. Is this an expensive problem to fix? What would be required? Thanks for the advice, BeeDub

Get a copy of Renovating Old Houses by George Nash. A lot of information about stuff like that.
Is this in earthquake country? Here in LA, I'd either walk away or consider the building a teardown.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, and location is important, basically need more info before anyone could give sound advice.
