Replace glass in sash of clad Jeld-Wen double hung
Anybody manage to replace the sealed glass in an aluminum clad double hung sash? Local glass folks are hesitant to try to remove cladding & can’t see how to get to the glass. Am trying to see if I can purchase new sash from Jeld-Wen factory in Wisconsin. These were bought in mid 2000’s when Home Depot closed them out for $50-60. Were the Caradco-JeldWen basic model – likely the same or close to current W-2500 line.

Here in Ohio I christened the Caradco.....
Ca-rap-co.
You couldn’t get parts even when they were in bizness. In my mind by taking the line, jeldwen is blessed with less than a stellar reputation.
Best of luck.
Too bad they're not Andersen windows -- can still get replacement sashes for 40-year-old units.
Collect free old singl pane windows from CL
Remove the 'fogged'* DP glazing from existing windows
Heat edges with heat ;gun, slit glass away from separator with drywall knife
Attach new panes to the separator with butyl caulk
Drill small hole in on corner of separator, another in opposite corner
Blow argon from your welding tank thru one hole for a minute or so, seal with butyl
Good to go, new unfogged panes. Did first like this 30 years ago, still good.
