I’ve got a house built in 1962 – ranch style. It has the obligatory sliding glass door leading onto the porch. I’d like to get rid of it.
It is in three sections, each is 4′ wide. The center section is slides, the two end sections are stationary. I’ve not had any luck locating a 12′ replacement door. I’m looking for a “french door” type to put in.
What are my alternatives?

You're not looking in the right places. If you really want replace 12' of glass door with 12' of glass door, pick a brand (we can argue that all day) then go see a window supplier. Should be no big deal to special order.
Frontier is right. Combine windows with french doors. You can go as wide as you like. Just about any window company can accomodate you (ie matching the window and fr door styles).

Typically two 6' units fit nicely in a 12' opening.
There are plenty of 12' sliders available from the reputable window and door makers. I have also framed the 12' down to 6'and put in French doors. This will put your drywall and siding skills to the test.
