I have old anderson casement windows, 1960 vintage. What are my options for replament. do companies make a casement replacement, similar to a double hung replacment?
I can demo them out and put new construction windows in, the size is slightly larger than what is avaible from anderson now and there will be alot of interior/exterior work to fit the new size.
Thoughts?

I haven't found a good way to deal with casements. Casement replacements are available, the problem is the old window doesn't usually lend itself to being replaced without tearing the whole thing out.
What we usually do is tear out the whole window. If siding is being saved, we order a custom replacement window with fins sized so that new exterior trim can be installed afer the window is in. For example, if you have J to J measurement of say 36", and you wanted to use 3 1/2" trim, you'd order a window at 29". You can also buy windows with trim/brickmold attached. The inside will have to be re trimmed.
If the frames are OK, Andersen sells replacement parts, including full sashes, for most if not all of its old windows.
There are vinyl replacement casements.
My experience is that when installed you will loose a lot of vision through them. The vinyl frames for them are rather large.
As fare as replaceing them, you will need a sharp chisel to remove the frame to a level surface.
