I would like to replace windows in a 75 year old house. I like the Pella precision fit window because it is in the frame without putting together a kit. But the price is ridiculous at over $500 for a 3046 size.

Is it possible to install an Andersen window by removing the fins  and installing into the original window opening once the sash, parting strips, etc. are removed? The exterior trim is wrapped in trim coil and the triple track storm would be removed. Or is it impossible to do this without ending up with a hacked  installation with lots of trim and filler?
