I am presently planning to replace my wood foundation. I am looking for advise on materials and methods that I should be looking into with my contractor.
The pony wall is 6 by 6 log that is roiting and needs replacement. I have heard that there is some form of pony wall that I can put in that is already insulated and vapor barried; but I do not know what it is called.
The basement is half basement and half crawl space. The basement part has been blocked in with wood to hold the ground back. I was wondering if this should not be reinforced and how do I go about doing this?
The house is held up by cribbing, but the cribbing is sitting on sand and the sand continually moving. Is there a way of presenting the sand from moving so much? Or is there some other method of holding up the house without costing a lot? We do not want to concrete the basement in because we have not decided on whether we are going to dig out the basement at a later date.
I would appreciate any advice that anyone could offer. Thanks
