I am considering removing the hardcoat stucco from a house and replacing it with brick. My main problem is the brick ledge or lack there of. I don’t want to dig down 9′ to good dirt, but two stories of brick is a lot of weight. Has any one ever attached a ledge to a concrete wall? Also, any suggestions for removing the stucco?
Thanks, Doug

I vaguely remember this one and it had lot's of answers, was quite a controversy, iirc. I think I see what's happening here. You're digging back to before BT updated their software. The main topics remain, but none of the replies.
Are we having fun yet?
I think I'd best step out of this one now, lest I get barred along with ya'. See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

I've seen angle iron lagged to the foundation for a brick ledge. Bigger brick walls than looked possible.
Engineer?
just pour a footer
How would you tie that footer in to the existing foundation?
Have you considered using faux brick veneer. It is similar to faux stone application that you probably have seen. It possibly could be applied directly to the existing stucco eliminating the need to remove the stucco. Have seen it and you could hardly tell it from the real thing.
angle iron with hilti bolts i have seen before. and lots of brick ties.
