I have a leak along a valley on my metal roof. I have called several roofers but none have called back. I suspect no one wants to do roof repairs on metal roofs. My question is: how far should the flashing reach under the metal roofing? My leak is not from damage (holes or cracks), I believe thewater is coming up the roof and past the flashing. It only leaks during heavy rains. Any tips would be helpful, if no roofer will take the job, I’ll do it myself
Thanks in advance, Llano

Any way for you to post some photos of this situation? Also, do you know what substrate this is on? Is the valley lined with I&W? What style metal roof?
Close to half of valley leaks I have seen originate further up the roof and only show themselves at the valley location.
And most roof leaks only display when there is heavy rain.

The substrate is 5/8 or 3/4 plywood, metal roof style is V-crimp approximately 18 years old. I inspected the leak from the attic and found the valley rafter wet starting at approximately half way down the roof line. I also inspected the roof itself, the ridge cap is in good condition and the roof is in good condition (no rust spots or obvious damage)
What sort of fasteners holding this roof on? Where are they placed?Reason I suspect a position other than the valley itself still is that it went so long without leaking. If it were from water backing up, it would have leaked from day one, first heavy rain.V-crimp is more often used down south where no ice and snow problems, but also where it is often installed with leaded nails instead of washered screws
