restoration of old wooden windows

I am remaking some 100 year old fir wooden windows and want to separate the mortise and tenon, how do I soften the glue? With thanks, Lorraine

Nine times out of ten you don't need to soften the glue -- it's all washed away anyway. Otherwise, heat (eg, a hot air gun) is probably your best bet.
Steam Box
You could go with a DYI steam box that could help with the old glazing, paint and should also help with the joints. Check this link below. There are some vids that provide an overview

100 year old windows were not glued. There are two wood pins holding the M&T. They might wiggle out or need to be drilled.
