Recent storms rolled through the country and we have immediate openings for sales estimators in the Dallas and Oklahoma City area.
View our craigslist ad at : http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/sls/2440474511.html If you call that number, you’ll reach my OKC manager. Shoot me an email through this forum if you prefer. Here’s the basic text:
“Our sales reps are signing 5-10 contracts a week and making on average $1500 per roof. We are looking for experienced sales reps. We have Xactimate and other resources to maximize every deal. Great pay plan. We will train if you have sales experience.
Basic tools for success: Use of a licensed, insured vehicle and ownership or ability to purchase the “tools of the trade” such as a camera, laptop, cell phone, etc. A fold up ladder is a handy tool for this job.”
I’ve heard estimates that there are 350,000 claims in the Dallas area. My guess is that the number is 1/2 to 1/3 of that but thats still a lot of work. Most of our work will be roof replacements but there will be some siding repairs. All of it is insurance sales. Insurance sales are the easiest to close because the homeowners are getting new roofs paid for by insurance with only a small amount of of pocket (their deductible).
You do not have to be a slick salesperson or have great sales skills. Your main skill will be honesty, integrity and sincereity and be willing to talk to people. This is a people to people, over the kitchen table, business and any friendly person can do it. You do not have to know a lot about roofs and we will train you regarding the insurance process.
The one drawback is the slowness of the first commission check. In many cases, it will take at least 30 days before the commission is earned if the homeowner has not filed a claim yet. So, anyone traveling to Dallas or OKC will have to have enough cash on hand to sustain themselves for at least a month. There are exceptions to this. For instance, today, one of our salesguys signed a deal with a homeowner who already has a check in hand. We can build his job immediately. The sales guy could draw full commission within a week or so. We pay draws when the collected money exceed our actual expenses.
Anyways, please shoot me an email if you want to get more information. I’m not real familiar with how this site works anymore but i think you still can email me through the forum.

Hey,
How's it goin?
It's going.
Hi Cal,
All things considered, it's going well. I'v ebeen plugging along learning the roofing business. I haven't missed any of the carpentry at all. I guess 25 years was enough LOL. I feel fortunate to be well settled into the business as these latest storms have rolled through our territory. The Dallas office will be a new endeavor but were already experienced starting in new areas so it's going a lot smoother. We were planning on opening in Dallas, so this just played into our plans.
I haven't been back to the midwest in 4 years but I'm traveling there in July. That should be fun. I plan on catching a ball game at Comerica and shooting a few rounds of golf with my brother.
I do keep up on what is happening in the midwest; primarily by reading the Det News online everyday. I can tell it's very tough there and I suspect that you are affected in the same way because of Toledo's ties to manufacturing. I hope I'm wrong.
Are you still staying busy with carpentry?

Good end to last yr and a great start to this one. Then bogus march/april but now the phone won't quit ringing. Feels good again to actually turn a couple down.
enjoy your visit and best of luck .
Spring was always my worst season too.
When I framed, March and April was always my worst season. A variety of factors converged to deliver a sour taste every year.
The biggest issue was mud/rain. The more biggest issue was the other hungry contractors who would be so desperate to start their building season that they'd let the builder beat them up below costs.
After getting a miserable start about five years in a row, I learned to sit it out. It worked out great, because instead of being tied down to a losing dawg, I'd get a fresh start with a builder that was sick of all the bad weather and slow framers!
My best months were winter because there were a lot of contractors that would shut the doors all winter.
Here in TX, we have a winter season too. I was surprised to hear Texans say "we'll wait till the weather breaks". I guess 60 degrees is too cold to build LOL!

Good to hear from ya Blue. And I'm glad that things seem to be going well for ya.
Thank you.

Did you get storms rolling through your area this season Boss?
We've had dozens of thunderstorms, but no hail.
