OK I took the advice and bought a titanium hammer. I have driven exactly ONE nail with it since I received it Friday afternoon, I think I will like it.
Question is. Can I beat on a cat’s paw, flat bar, nail set etc. or must I reach for another hammer?

Rocket... How long have you had it?
Probably got it in 1980.20 oz. framer. Grip is completely compromised. Was gluing and taping it etc.
I remember those rockets from when I framed - about 1974. Chrome shank with a rubber grip. Never had one myself.
Rocket was still making nice hammers in 74. They cheapened up about 76 or 77 and they were never the same.
I was framing with my Rocket (which I still have) in '68.View Image
I won a stiletto 15 oz here, it'll move a wall... amazing what an extra ounce adds<G>http://www.tvwsolar.com
We'll have a kid
Or maybe we'll rent one
He's got to be straight
We don't want a bent one
He'll drink his baby brew
From a big brass cup
Someday he may be president
If things loosen up
YOu can beat things. Treat it like it has a wooden hammer.
If you have to move things like a wall, the titanium will come up short. I used to grab a stud and use it like a battering ram. The old rocket would move things but a 14 oz titanium won't.
my moving thinks I keep three sledge in my truck, big, Bigger and oh my god. Oh my god is a 25 lb with the handle cut
I always had big and bigger in the truck but I usually never needed to waste the walk time. A 16' 2x10 can move just about anything if it is used as a battering ram.
Bang away. Just don't expect to use the claws for a stubborn nail puller, I've heard of several people who have busted claws. I never have, but I guess you probably don't hear from the ones who haven't.
