I just purchased a house that had the roof redone about 6 months ago. The owner went cheap and didn’t install a ridge vent, and has the old pizza hat type vents. I found an old package of the shingles and wondered if people thought it was worth the effort and cost to go back and get ridge venting installed. If so, what is a good name ridge vent. How much should this cost me per linear foot?? I live in Houston and believe the help in humidity prevention inside the house would help. Steve

How is the current venting working? Is there mildew/mold on the roof sheathing in the attic?
Consider getting a partial inspection from a local home inspector who looks at attics everyday and who is likely to know what actually works and what doesn't work in your area.

I've actually walked all around the attic. A very hot thing these last months in Texas. And I don't see any mold. But, another reason I was considering it was energy savings. Any thoughts anybody?? Thanks, Steve
