reznor unit heater problem

Hi guys I have a Reznor unit heater in my garage about ten years old & has worked fine the last 3 seasons other than replacing the thermocoupler & now this year it lights & runs fine for hours after lighting but find during the night it shuts down pilot & all & have to relight daily. I am thinking it is the gas valve but don’t want to replace the valve & find out its the exchanger or something else, any advice?

One possibility is that the pilot is being blown out. This can happen, oddly, if height of the pilot flame is adjusted to be too HIGH, such that it "stands off" the pilot jet, with a clear area between jet orafice and the visible flame. In this situation the pilot flame gets blown out when the main burner starts, and the thermocouple then shuts things down. Most likely to happen in the middle of the night, in my experience.
