Looking to frame a lakefront home (30 x 42) with 10/12 pitch. I know truss’s would be simpler but we wouldnt get a loft and I would still be concerned about a little snag in the heavy snow load area.
It looks the the rafter span would be just over 19 feet which I thing would really be pushing the limits. If I did do a ridge beam should I do underpurlins midway on beam ? and if so would I notch a birdsmouth on the rafter of just let it sit on the corner of it.
Thanks very much

You need an engineer. It's that simple. They don't cost that much, and most lumberyards that sell engineered lumber can provide the engineering services required for free.
There are attic trusses, so you could have a room in it. As Andy said, an engineer would be your best bet. Truss manufacturers have in-house engineer/designers.
"It looks the the rafter span would be just over 19 feet" Is that the span or the length?
sorry length, and snowload is 60 psf
Use spans to determine loads not length
