Fitting the border:

Nice work. I love 1/4 sawn white oak. The finished pictures should be real interesting.
Hi Stan,
Just finished the floor build yesterday. Had to cover it up so the kitchen people could come in and do some demo work. It was too dark to get any good shots.
The octogon end, which outines a granite counter top above, was filled using an 'angled plane' technique. Basically just mitered corners at 45*. As you walk around the room the field changes, almost like an optical illusion.....but you already knew that..haha.
Notice the Festool dust containment unit. I have been using their big plunge saw with guide rail for this kind of work....real time saver...and very accurate.Ditch
Hi Stan,
Here's the floor finished with a coat of sealer:Ditch
Not only does the work make me jealous it is so good, but something about the keyhole design is strangely relaxing. Unique, inviting to pass through, and an eye-catching pattern.
Bravo!.
Excellence is its own reward!
Hey Piff,
Thanks 'Bro....means a lot from an old timer like you.Ditch
BTW......The kitchen designer decided to shorten a knee wall by 6" after the floor was installed. I had to make repairs to a perfectly good floor install.....and then he refused to pay for the repair time....really pi$$ed me off.Ditch
That ba5tard! You should kick him in the balls and steal his wallet.

Molten,
Probably doesn't have any cheese in his wallet....and definitely doesn't have any balls.Ditch
Be creative: take the plug out of his oil pan or simply set his car on fire.
" definitely doesn't have any balls."
Oh, one of THOSE designers...
This phallic syumbol is developing a meaning then..

Hey Jeff,
It goes quick. The floor is about 95% locked. I use a top bearing slot bit and splines to lock the miters. Ditch
Phallic symbol????....... Hmmmmm???...... now that would make an interesting floor detail.Ditch
Ditch,
you never cease to amaze me..a true artisian!!!!!

In his first interview since the stroke, Ram Dass, 66, spoke with great difficulty about how his brush with death has changed his ideas about aging, and how the recent loss of two old friends, Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, has convinced him that now, more than ever, is the time to ``Be Here Now.''

I wouldn't recommend sticking your eyeball up against any phallic symbols.
LOL.

Bahahahahahahaha!!! You crack me up!
Reminds me of this time -
The lumberyard out in my town, Colorado, had western belt buckles made up for all their good customers one year. nice silver with those blue stones - Tourquise?
And the art work featured the name of my business in text, Nicely done.
So one day I walk into a gas station and there was this nearsighted hippie sitting there...
Know how I figure that he was nearsighted?
He could tell there were words on that belt buckle but he figured that he needed to get a little closer to read them...
You guys can roar now, I ain't going into details, but you know how slippery the grease and oils can be on a mechanics floor...He stayed down for the count..
Excellence is its own reward!
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Very cool floor!
