Anyone used one of these yet? $199 sounds like a fair price. I use alot of Hardi backer, and cutting it sucks. The Hardi jig saw blades work great, but at about $8 each, it’s tough to swallow. Plus, for straight rip cuts it takes forever. A regular circular saw makes too much dust. And cutting 1/2″ hardi with a knife like they recommend is a joke.

I finally gave in while looking at a lot of backer board and couldn't take the dust any more.
The saw works pretty well - what attracted me was the lifetime warranty and the fact that I don't have to have a shop vac around with it. There is a little dust, but nothing in comparison to a regular saw.
Since buying it, I've cut a lot of backer and a lot of FC siding - works like a charm.

Thats good to hear. I don't really mind cutting FC siding with a knife (except the occasional rip cut), but cutting an inch off of a piece of 1/2" hardi board sucks.
I believe JLC did a review.
Yeah, thats where I saw it first. But i take magazine review with a grain of salt. I was hoping for some real experiences.
The person that did the review, tim, is a real life framer!!
Ok,that was one experience. Now Greg has given me two.
If I'm not mistaken, Mike Guertin looked at it recently for FHB and liked it a lot. I can't say I've seen it yet in stores, but there again I don't have a use for it so I haven't really looked either. Seems like a good machine from what I've read about it though.
Seen them at Home Depot in June. Must be around somewhere. The ToolBear

We use them and they are great. Lightweight, powerful, good blade etc. The vacuum blower is very strong. I must confess to using it without the pickup tube attachment many times. The blower is so strong it will blow the dust a long way away from you if you have to use the saw without the tube hooked up.
Ergonomics are great too. Seems to be very well built.
I would highly recommend buying one.
Fiber Cement Shears. Some models will cut 1/2" hardieboard. Before I got mine, I just used a cheap cordless circular saw. Dusty, but it worked. You can't cut more than two boards at a time, but who cares. There are even cordless models out there with Lithium batteries. It seems like ever since I got mine, and let me friends use it, they call me every time they get a siding job. I still haven't decided whether that is good or bad.
