Rigid foam ok for basement walls?
Im in the middle of a basement remodel and questioning the installation of 1″ Rigid foam in my basement walls. The walls to be insulated are 4′ under grade…. The rest, above the bottom plate, in staying the same with R19. Drylock will be applied to block foundation. I have 1 1/2″ 2x nailers 16″ oc framing in front of the block then baseboard heating (which makes increasing the wall thickness harder). How should I install the rigid foam, secured against the block filling all voids with expanding foam? Or should there be airspace between the foam and block? Spray foam isnt in the budget unfortunately. I’m located in the Hudson Valley, New York.
Thanks for the advice and direction!

Foam against the block-foam seams openings etc.
I would put spray foam back in the budget. You will be glad you did in the long run.
1" Rigid foam isn't really
1" Rigid foam isn't really adequate either... 2" is a more typical minimum and code requirement where such things are required.
maybe move the baseboard in and add a layer over your strapping? kill the thermal bridge while you're at it.
