Jayri, the secret is you don't attach the sleepers to the rubber. Glue strips of rubber to the sleepers to elevate them slightly and protect the roof from abrasion, and let gravity do the rest.
It's a good idea to make the deck in sections so you can clean debris off the rubber when you need to.
