We had our hip roof house reroofed last year, an now the section over our front door leaks water badly during a rain storm. The water is coming through on the back side of the gutter, between the facia board. I checked to confirm they had installed a drip edge and indeed, there is one there. It is a gently slope so I’m assuming the runnoff is wrapping around underneath the shingle. But there is enough overlapp, I can’t imagine the water running uphill under the shingle, past the drip edge, and running behind the drip edge. I won’t call the contractor back since I’m done pulling teeth to get him to come back for too other issues. Any comments on how to repair the drip? Thanks to all in advance.

I've seen it often. Even on my recent install on my house.
You need to have fabricated a strip to slip up under the face of the drip edge and hang it down into the gutter a little, relieve it or notch it around the hangers. A few pop rivets will secure it to DE.
About 1.5 inches wide with a hem on the botton edge for stiffness, and maybe a slight "Z" bend, depends on how goofed it is. Alum, Copper, should be fin, and it is nearly invisible from the ground.

You might want to check to make sure the gutter isn't bellied at this spot, causing it to overfill and overflow over the back side. Does water stand in the gutter at this spot after a rain? If so, it should be reset to slope towards the downspouts. Otherwise, what Sphere said.
