roof-mounted b-ball backboard no leaks

hi all–
I’m a deck builder and landscape woodworker out of my element wanting to mount a metal support structure for a basketball backboard onto a brand-new (did it ourselves) comp shingle 4-in12 garage roof. We built the structure out of 1.5″ angle iron and plan to bolt it through the shingles, sheathing and 2×4 blocking . Any ideas on how to do this so it WON’T LEAK? The uphill bolts are esp. important since the backboard itself is cantilevered out over the gutter.

I've always thought it would be cool to make a false dormer that was the basketball backboard, centered over the garage door - it would have a normal roof and shingle detailing.
No help.
I'd consider making a sort of cricket or tiny gable roof of flashing that goes out over each bolt location and then tucks back under the shingles above it. Each bolt would then be recessed back up in sort of a tunnel.
Think shedding-type shielding using gravity - forget about caulk or sealant or goop - plus, it's ugly!

I likey Forrest's idea. Holes in shingles always lead to rot.
Without breaking the bank, right?
First - I hope you have this made so that the angle iron mounts are running up and down - not across the drip line. if that is the case, you already lost.
Second, you want the bolts to align with rafters. If the spacing is noit right, get the torch out and rebuild it. All the thousands of times that the Bball vibrations hitting this unit transfer to the roof connection will loosen the lag on sheathing and end up leaking sooner rather than later. It needs to be solidly anbchored into the rafter.
Third, place it, trace out where the brackets seat, move it aside and sweep all loose grit away, make sure it is dry, and liberally squeeze out clear Geocel on the placement area. Then seat the unit in place. You will need plenty of help, because it will now want to slide on this greasy spot.
Drill and run your lags in. Then finger up some of the ooze out to put on the lag heads.
Now take some lead flashing and lift the shingle immediately above the angle irons and work the lead in so it lies under the shingle tab, and over the angle iron. Play tin-knocker to make it conform.
Done. Enjoy the game.

Dont look too great, but fibered tar.
reason for clear Geocell is that it disappears.
