i’m attaching a porch roof to walls. roof will be approx. 4/12 pitch. what is recommended clearance between finished roof and exterior window sills above? all will be properly flashed, ice & water, etc.

For waterproffing 4-8"is best but sometrimesyou've got only two inches to work with. Flashing just gets harder. With some houses two or three inches looks best too.
*thanks, didn't think there was any code requirements and am trying to buy as much pitch as possible as am dealing with existing post height on outside end of rafters.
*Pete, when confronted with a porch roof height that would cram the windows above, I raised the roof and installed low slope "window wells" to maintain clearance at the bottom and sides of the windows. Worked well with proper flashing and looked good on an 80 yr old house. Might be worth a thought. Best of luck.
