got a bit of info today on roofguard 2 underlayment . seems like another contractor used it under a shingle roof application and it held the moisture under the product so bad it caused the 5/8 cdx to delaminate. also the supplier told me there was a web site with about seven other complaints.have’nt checked into it yet, but has anybody heard of this. funny ,but i installed it under a new metal roof and the manufacturer reccomends it for underlayment . made me a little concerned. bad enough that 5/8 cdx delaminates on its own .

The SUPPLIER told you of the bad-news website?
one of my material suppliers did . he had a customer file a claim for damage. don't know all the details yet. I am checking into it though. are you from lake placid NY.? im from saranac lake,NY
Small world, huh? Who are you hearing this from?
Read a post that you were from adirondacks ,essex county. Clicked on your name and it shows Lake Placid, N.Y. Very small world.
There's miles & miles of that stuff on roofs. If it was destroying sheathing you'd know it.
Something else caused "the other contractor's" problem.

i felt the same way when he told me about it. something happened to trap the moisture under the underlayment is the way i look at it. he had shingles on this roof.first thing i thought to was that he left sheathing exposed to long and started to delaminate . ive used alot of this underlayment and its the first ive heard of it.
oh by the way im not the "other contractor"!!!!
The problem is not that this product is so good. It is tht there is a flaw in the design or construction seqquence that allowedthat moisture to get where it is in the first place.

give him a pass. He's just reporting what he was told. I don't think he is the one caused the problem...

Before this gets too far, let's consider how many years contractors have been putting membranes like Grace on roof sheathing.
Yeah ,like I said , this was only mentioned to me today and had not had time to find out any other info.Im going to find this website address tomorrow to see if it has any truth.
I would rather have the lumberyard source that is throwing up alarms.
im figuring first mistake was using cdx plywood. ive had it delivered to me on site already delaminated. last time that happened!. i still saying the delamination occured because of uncovered sheathing in this wonderful ny weather. it it didnt happen overnight either. im wondering if it was an excuse ,after the shingles buckled and someone caught it. il get more info . but i certainly thought it was wierd he blamed it on roof guard
