Have any of you worked with manufactured roofing slate? The companys web site makes it sound good. I am building a house in Wisconsin an arts and crafts style and thought this might work. How does it compare to real slate,shakes.thanks hops

I think it's a good idea. However, several companies have come and gone in the last several years. That 50 yr. or lifetime warranty ain't worth much if the company isn't around to honor it. I'm a traditionalist. If the product hasn't been in production for the life of the warranty, it makes me nervous.
You may want to try the archives here. there was much discussion about the subject a year or so ago.
If I remember right I got the feeling.... mostly negative feedback on the appearance.
