I’m going to be repairing/reroofing & extending the shed roof on a 3/12 pitch entry/porch in Maine (part enclosed/heated, part screen porch). There will be one hip where it wraps around a corner of the house.
I’m wondering what my best choice is for roofing material. Obviously, I’m going to want to ice & water shield the whole thing, but on top of that? Price is an issue, so I think standing-seam metal is out…. Also, any thoughts on venting this type of roof?
Thanks, -Otis

I'm in Maine and can see exactly the roof you are describing. The ice and water shield is essential. You can't hardly vent one of these so good insulation and vapor bar is essential, if you can do it. Materials is least important Question. Asphalt shingles are fine.
