Hi y’all, I’m new to this, would like a little advice concerning roofing the addition I’m adding to my outbuilding. It’s essentially a 2 story 2 car garage with a gambrel roof about 22 feet square. I’m adding a 12 foot extension to the rear. My problem is the existing roof was reroofed by the previous owner last year, it now has a double layer.
Any ideas on how to make the transition from the old roof to the new roof less noticable short of refoofing the whole thing. Would adding a double layer of felt be a good idea? The shingles are not the 3 tab but look more like Corning’s Oakridge Pro 30.
Thanx

Use some cedar shingles (you may have to cut the butts off to get them the right thickness) and nail them horizontally on the new sheathing butted up against the bottom layer of shingles on the existing. They'll fade the thickness out.
