Hi, All. A question for my creative builder-brethren; Anyone out there successfully complete a rope bridge. I ran the Search and found many ideas and theories but I’m really interested in actual examples.
The span will be about 55′, 3′ wide and approx 15′ above grade at the highest point. I’m all set with structural anchoring from deck to deck. What I’m wrestling with really is the architectural design of bridge deck, rails & related knotting/attachments. While structure is obviously important we’re looking for a cool design; like a cross between Robinson Caruso and Indiana Jones.

did you try the BSA field manual???
I know the Army Engineers have them in their manuals too....
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!

no -- my guy's caruso. your guy hadn't yet invented the vowel "A"
Sang better too!
The span will be about 55'
Stability problems right off, look into horizontal stability.
Hope you plan on wire rope.

You plan on pulling the decks down? Think tons vs pounds. Learn, do the calc., then come back. Not being facecious, but 55 ft bridge of any type is serious structure, unless just meant as a 'toy'.
