I am looking for information about rotary laser levels. For example, Robolaser made by Toolz in Palo Alto is self-leveling and remote controlled, for one man operation. I have seen this tool in on-line catalogs for about $270. This seems like a good price for these features. Could it be too good to be true? Has anybody used this or similar levels?
Also, could somebody remind me where I saw a magazine article about laser levels. Thanks.

*Tim,I've used the Robolaser extensively over the last year on many remodeling jobs. It really was a great help in laying out new headers, moulding, cabinet installation, countertop electrical boxes, etc, (especially in older homes that are out of level). Best $270 I've spent in a long time (couldn't wait to throw out my old water leveling tube collection - but kept my long straightedges just in case). It is very simple to use. Turn it on and walk the room as you control the location of the beam from a remote. I should probably get an adjusting tripod for fine tuning elevation, but it isn't necessary. In a couple of minutes you can (by yourself!) mark level reference points around a room and from these measure up or down depending on what you want to place. I'd highly recommend this product.
*Where did you find the $270 price? I found one site that listed it at $349 reg. price, special www price of $299.Thanks.
*I think it was Tool Crib of the North.www.toolcribofthenorth.com
*He's right on the $270, I ordered one from them and with shipping it was $278. Only problem was I sent a check and they held the order 10 business days. I'm still waiting, was to ship the 15th so hopefully tomorrow, I really need it.
