Rotted Trim (Working around electrical service drop and oil fill pipes)
Greetings,
I need to replace a rotted water table trim board which is penetrated by the electrical service drop from the meter AND the home heating oil fill and vent pipes. Are there any tricks to replacing a board like this to make the job easier? I will work on getting a picture…..

Well...
Make your replacement long for starters. You'll have to crosscut your board to pc around the pipes.
lay out the first hole on your replacement board. Drill it out.
Elongate the holes slightly to to either side of center to make up for the saw kerf you'll make if your hole saw is exactly the pipe size. If the hole saw is a quarter bigger than the pipe, you won't have to.
lay out the next hole and repeat, one at a time. The centers will change each kerf you make at each hole.
if the water table is tipped, the holes need to be drilled at the proper angle.
you can bevel or butt cut but be sure to coat seal or glue all cuts, the drilled holes and the ends at assembly.
thanks for the reply!
can you clarify what " You'll have to crosscut your board to pc around the pipes." Does pc mean pre-cut? Are you suggesting that I make a complete crosscut at each penetration?
I believe he means "...
I believe he means "... crosscut your board to piece around the pipes."
Consider installing flashing behind/under the replacement pieces, since the area will always be "suspect".
