Real basic question. What is the RO height for an interior door? Exterior? Unsure about my finish floor dimension but probably 3/4″. I’ve been thinking it’s 82~1/4 for interior and 83~3/4 for exterior but I keep seeing a variety of suggests.
Planning on 92~5/8 stud length with 2X10 header stock-padded where needed.

depends on your door size. Most interior doors in the houses I frame are 6' 8" doors. We frame then 6' 10 1/2" subfloor to bottom of header for interior doors, and 6' 11" for exterior doors.
General rule of thumb that I use is to add 2 1/2" in all directions to the nominal door size to determine an appropriate rough opening. Some guys use 2", others 3". Never had issue with my numbers though so I'm guessing I'm doing something right.
Is the typical height of a standard 3/0 exterior door 6' 10"?
Average is 36" x 6' 8"
A quick call will get your R/O from yourdoor supplier.
A quick rule of thumb is to add 3/4" for each jam thickness plus 1/8" for the gab between the door and frame.
Skippy we use the 6' 10 1/2" height. If its an exterior door, we put a 3/4" filler underneath the door. This allows the door to swing over a throw rug. So, exterior doors are 82 1/2 + 3/4= 83 1/4".
The rough opening widths are size of the door plus the jamb + 1/4" on each side. Basically, we rough all swingers 2" over called out size.

The garage swing fire doors we put in, need a shoe horn if the R.O. is less then 83 1/2 tall !

That's interesting. Must be a regional difference in door suppliers.

We argue with the door company on those fire doors. Our trim guys want the RO to be 84" max off the subfloor and no less than 83 3/4", but the door guy wants them 83 1/2" We just do what our trim guys says :-)
I imagine it's better to err a little on the big side than to bring your door in & find it doesn't fit in the opening.
When we use 92-5/8" precuts we use 2x10 headers with a 2x4 on the bottom and that gives you 83-1/8" for the height for interior and exterior doors for all the RO's. Some exterior doors we make them higher depending on what type of door it is. If it's a special order.
I add 2" all around to the nom door size. I see Blue said it...
It depends. Check the manufacturers specifications.
